Coco for Coconuts…iTunes & Imeem

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

So lots of Coconuts love this week. Post-Cloverfield, we decided to jump on the bandwagon and post “Rob’s Party Mix” on Imeem.com - well on our page on Imeem, coconutrecords.imeem.com

It’s embedded below so you can rock out to. And yes, we’ll be adding Moby’s “Disco Lies” soon.

Feel like spending money? Then pop on over to iTunes where you can buy the Cloverfield Mix, which features “West Coast”

And that’s not all, iTunes dropped Nighttiming into their weekly update of Hot Indie bands in the Alternative section. We’re sweating. Thanks Cupertino.

Coconut Records in Cloverfield

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

10 years ago, when that “Godzilla” remake came out, Sony promoted it by putting Godzilla’s tail, eye and claw on every bus, billboard and magazine in the world. They didn’t show the whole monster ever in the ads. I thought it would be a great idea to make a monster movie and advertise the hell out of it without showing the creature at all, and about 25 minutes in, reveal a guy in a rubber suit.

Now it’s 2008 and JJ Abrams just pulled it off to the tune of $41 million bucks. Somewhere he’s rolling around on a mattress not covered in, but stuffed with, $100 bills laughing and laughing.

But I digress. The point is, one of our favorite artists, Coconut Records was featured in the party mix. That was “West Coast” you were hearing.

Coconut Records - Lots of action in ‘08

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Coconut Records - Jason SchwartzmanJason Schwartzman’s Coconut Records is riding high. After doing his first ever interview for Coconut Records for Ourstage.com (watch it there)…our good friend Perez Hilton picked it up and sent even more fans our way. Thanks Perez…

And this week we’ve gotten some feature love “New & Notable” from eMusic.com (I know, I know, the record came out last March. Oh well, who said the internet was fast.) This Time Warner connection sure isn’t.
